Blockchain Sports Integrates Polygon To Launch Sports Academy In The Metaverse

Blockchain Sports, a web3 ecosystem facilitating young athletes to become professionals, has integrated Polygon, an Ethereum scaling network, to launch a metaverse project. The two plan to create a sports academy in the metaverse.

Blockchain Sports Taps Polygon For Metaverse Project

In a June 26 blog post, Blockchain Sports confirmed plans to offer sports experiences in the metaverse. The web3 startup has onboarded Polygon to power its highly anticipated metaverse sports project.

Launched in 2017, Polygon is a blockchain platform that aims to create a multi-chain blockchain system compatible with Ethereum. Like Ethereum, Polygon utilizes a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism to process its transactions on-chain.

In the past several months, Polygon has integrated many institutions and startups to help the sports industry clients unlock massive market opportunities locked in the crypto. In October, Polygon and Sportfive inked a multiyear partnership to launch projects. The scope of the partnership is for working with intellectual property and brands to deliver projects.

Polygon Integrations In The World Of Sports

Earlier this month, Nike, through its Polygon-powered web3 platform .Swoosh teamed up with EA Sports to launch a metaverse project. The partnership allowed members of .SWOOSH to gain access to Nike-branded digital collectibles, which will be infused into EA games.

In December 2022, Maincard, a web3 sports prediction game, launched on Polygon main net. The Maincard allows users to compete on a leaderboard by correctly predicting the outcomes of sporting events. The platform’s roster of supported sports currently includes football, basketball, and League of Legends.

In the meantime, Blockchain Sports has launched its native utility token, “$SPORTS,” for its upcoming metaverse project. Sports enthusiasts and crypto users can convert their Sports tokens into non-fungible tokens and receive the company’s profit. The blockchain firm has already completed the first phase of Brazil Academy in the metaverse.
